Emerald Pro-Am winner Warrick Betts and travelling partner Nick Russell took care of business at the Middlemount Pro-Am yesterday as the pair secured a three stroke victory at Middlemount Golf Club.
The duo finished 9-under the card after Russell produced the lowest round of the day, along with Steven Jeffress, to fire 6-under 66.
The win was the continuation of a great week of form for Betts who claimed the Emerald Pro-Am last Sunday.
"This really is unbelievable. I know I am playing well at the moment, but to win twice in one week is unbelievable," said Betts.
"You have to take the wins when you can; you never know when your next might come about. Thankfully I didn’t have to wait too long, especially after waiting five years to get my first."
Rounding out the top-5 were Marcus Cain, Paul Hayden and Steven Jeffress who all finished tied third on 6-under the card.
First played in 1984, the Middlemount Pro-Am has been a significant part of the PGA Pro-Am Series in Queensland for more than 30 years. Peter Senior is a previous winner of the event securing back-to-back wins in 1985 and 1986.
Yesterday’s victory sees a tight tussle on the Onsite Rental Group Mining Town Series leaderboard. Paul Hayden currently leads on 23-under with Marcus Cain, Steven Jeffress and Betts only two shots behind on 21-under.
The Dysart Pro-Am, which tees off on Saturday, is the next stop on Onsite Rental Group Mining Town Series.
