It was a spectacular day one for the Legends ProAm at Club Catalina, taking place from 20-21 October, as the early starters were greeted with an immaculately presented course and ideal conditions.
NSW David Hughes played a flawless golf and took advantage with six birdies in his first 16 holes, however a triple bogey 7 on his 17th hole, the 9th on the layout followed by a bogey brought him back to 2-under 70.
Two shots back was Tasmanian Elliott Booth; his even par 72 saw him once again break his age of 74 and put him in a good position for day two.
Winds of 30km/h gusts made things tricky in the afternoon. Only two players were able to match Hughes, Craig Warren of Queensland and Lucien Tinkler from Victoria.
A further shot back was Order of Merit leader Tim Elliott who is looking to secure his position after a win in Fiji a week ago.
Day two saw a Pro only field take the course which gave the event a real tournament feel.
Although the pristine course was presented with light winds no player was able to beat the par of 72.
Tim Elliott carded 72 for a 1-under total of 143 and in the next and final game Queenslander Craig Warren managed a bogey on the 18th for a 73 which meant the two players shared the prize money.
At the presentations both players praised the conditions of the course with Elliott saying it was one of the best he ever played in his career.
The Legends Tour players went down to Kiama Golf Club in Kiama Downs on the 24th October competing for a purse of $11,000.
The day showed almost perfect weather conditions with slight wind in the afternoon to play this par-66 course.
New South Welshman David Hando showed a perfect game with a par-66 followed by one close shot by Victorian David Good.
Two days later, the whole group traveled to St Georges Basin Country Club Sanctuary Point for the first time ever on the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour, with for $15,000 in prize money up for grabs.
The course welcomed the players with perfect weather conditions; Warren made the most of it again by winning the day with a spectacular 5-under 65. He started his round with a hole-in-one on 10th. Victorian Mike Harwood finished runner-up with a 66.
The PGA would like to thank the Club for its great hospitality and presenting us with a course in perfect conditions. The Pros are very much looking forward to go back next year.
The Legends Pros are now at the Killara Golf Club for the David Mercer Senior Classic with a prize purse of $60,000.
