Cavill Avenue had a makeover today as the Australian PGA
Championship brought the Soniq Million Dollar Hole to the iconic Gold Coast
location.

"MayorAs part of the ‘Play Your Way to the PGA’ road show, which
has been travelling around Northern New South Wales and Queensland, the PGA of
Australia has replicated the par-3 16th hole at RACV Royal Pines
Resort giving golf fans the chance to try and score a hole-in-one.

Mayor Tom Tate was the first Gold Coaster to try and achieve
the feat on the replica hole before getting some golf tips from Tour
Professional Adam Blyth.

"One thing about golf, the
harder you hit the less it will go so relax, keep your head straight, eyes down
on the ball and enjoy the swing! A bit like life actually," said Mayor Tate,
summing up the advice Blyth imparted.

While the Mayor had a good crack at it, the smooth swing of Blyth,
who will compete in the Australian PGA Championship, ensured his ball finished
nearest the pin.

"The Mayor obviously enjoys his golf, he has a decent swing
but I think for my own pride I was pretty happy to see my ball closest to the
hole," said Adam Blyth who recently won the South Pacific Open Championship.

"It’s pretty cool to see the X-GOLF simulator here next to
the beach and it’s great to see so many people picking up a club and having a
go. Hopefully they all come to the Australian PGA Championship to watch us in
action next month."

The X-GOLF simulator will be on Cavill Ave on Saturday 5
November and Sunday 6 November giving Gold Coasters the chance to win a day at
the Australian PGA Championship.

The three people whose shots finish nearest to the pin on
the simulator during the "Play Your Way to the PGA" road show will earn the
chance at a hole-in-one on Saturday 3rd December on the real par-3
16th hole at RACV Royal Pines Resort. If they achieve the lucky feat
they will win an X-GOLF simulator of their own valued at $125,000.

With less than a month to go until the European Tour and
ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia co-sanctioned Australian PGA Championship
tees off, Mayor Tom Tate said he couldn’t wait for the tournament which is set
to feature World Number 7 Adam Scott.

"We’re
thrilled to be hosting the prestigious Australian PGA Championship again this
year," said Mayor Tate.

"This event,
at one of the Gold Coast’s most stunning golf courses, gives all of us an
opportunity to show our city off to the world."

A celebration of golf, the Australian PGA Championship will
have a festival vibe in 2016 with live music every afternoon in the tournament
village and the Orange Crush Kids Day and Summer Soirée set to provide an
experience for every attendee.

"The
Australian PGA Championship is an event that caters to everyone and it’s a great
opportunity to invite your family and friends from out of town. Come to the
Gold Coast for an early summer holiday," added Mayor Tate.

"You don’t have to be a golfer to enjoy an event
like the PGA. Just being on the course and a part of the atmosphere is a
fantastic experience in itself."

It will be the Soniq Million Dollar Hole where the
atmosphere will really come alive with the par-3 16th hole the
hottest spot at RACV Royal Pines Resort.

In the final round of the Australian PGA Championship, Tour
Professionals will have the chance to ace their way to a big pay day. The first
player to score a hole-in-one will win $500,000 with a lucky fan also winning
$500,000 in cash and prizes.

"The chance to win $500,000 is something I will definitely
be having a crack at on the Sunday of the PGA. To link up with a golf fan and
have them share in the million dollar prize is also pretty cool," said Blyth,
who is looking forward to the celebratory vibe the Lexus Marquee will create on
the hole.

"I love that the Australian PGA Championship will be a bit
of a party. I think it will be great to have people out cheering us on as we
try to ace the 16th. And if I manage to do it, I will definitely be
celebrating with the fans!"

Tickets to the Lexus Marquee can be purchased via Ticketek
with fans receiving the best vantage point on-course, a six-hour food and
beverage service plus DJ’s and entertainment throughout the day.
