Although a long way off the pace coming in to the third round, Victorian Nick Sapet and Queenslander Ben Pisani both concluded the day with 4-under 68, the best scores of the round and for both players for the tournament.
First year Trainee Professional Gavin Fairfax has moved in to clear second position after carding a respectable 1-under 71. Fellow playing partner Robbie Hogan had a more challenging round with three bogeys, a disappointing double bogey on the 5th and two birdies leaving him on 3-over 75 for the round.
Frazer Droop again demonstrated why he was in strong contention to take the title tomorrow, finishing the day on 3-under 69 taking him to 12-under for the tournament, four shots clear of Fairfax.
When interviewed post round Droop commented whilst he was aiming to shoot in the 60’s again tomorrow he knows the final day pins will be tough and the pressure immense, but hopefully he can string together two solid nines to hang on for the win.
As the lead group will be hard to catch tomorrow the main field will again be looking to score well in a bid to claw up their position on the leaderboard and increase their slice of the $40,000 prize purse.
The morning field will be teeing off at 7am tomorrow on the East Course with a warm clear day forecast it makes for exciting golf and excellent viewing conditions.
