The PGA Pro-Am Series is headed back to South Australia next week with the Murray Bridge Hotel PGA Classic featuring during week one.

Some top quality golf will be on display over the next few weeks in SA as players from around Australia and New Zealand take to the fairways of SA starting in Mt Gambier on Easter Monday for the Beachport Liquid Minerals Pro-Am.

Following Mt Gambier, players head north to contest the Murray Bridge Hotel Classic which boats a prize purse of $35,000 beginning on Wednesday morning and concludes after 54 holes are played, ending on Friday afternoon at the Murray Bridge Golf Club where David Lutterus dominated the event to win in 2016.

The event is supported in large part by the Rural City of Murray Bridge and events coordinator for the council, Mildy Raveane says the event is going from strength to strength.

The Murray Bridge Hotel PGA Classic was awarded the PGA Tournament of the year in 2016 and announced at the annual South Australian Golf Industry awards dinner last October.

“The club and supporters do an amazing job with the event and the players absolutely love coming back to play and i am sure this year will be no exception,” said PGA Australia Tournament Coordinator Darren Baynes.

Murray bridge CEO Michael Sedgman said “Murray Bridge and our wider Community are keen sports people and the ability to bring events of high calibre such as the PGA Classic provide both an important social and economic benefit to our region."

“It’s more than just a competition, these men and women who represent the PGA have an enormous amount of experience in both playing but also in teaching the game which is what they will also find themselves doing during the two week stretch of tournaments right around South Australia .

The 2017 South Australian series will see local young guns Anthony Murdaca and Max McCardle in action along with some of the more experienced players including Jason Norris who competed in on the Asian Tour. Murdaca competed in the US Masters a few years ago and like many of the young professionals in Australia, rely on Pro-Am tournaments during the year to keep the game sharp.

“I am looking forward to playing these events in my home state," said Murdaca who was one of the worlds brightest stars and now is finding his way as a professional.

The South Australian circuit will continue on through to May with events being played at Flagstaff Hill, Glenelg, West Lakes & concluding at The Dunes at Port Hughes for the Coppercoast Classic.

“It’s extremely challenging and requires plenty of patience but my game is in good shape and i just hope i can have a few wins here in SA and Murray Bridge and Mt Gambier are great courses to start the circuit on” added the 26-year-old from Adelaide.

2016 Runner-up Jack Williams from South Australia closed with a round of 59 will be hoping to go one better this year in a field which is shaping up to be the best yet.

Murray Bridge will also so see a special invitation granted to the leading amateur golfer from South Australia, Lachlan Barker who will tee it up and see how he stacks up against some of the best young professionals in the country.

• PGA Shootout at Lady Bay, Sunday 30^th April
• West Lakes Pro-Am, Monday 1^st May
• Coppercoast Classic at Copperclub, Thursday 4^th May
