Jamie Arnold posted the best finish of his rookie season on the Web.com Tour with a T14 result, alongside fellow Aussie Rhein Gobson, at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship in the Dominican Republic.
An opening round 65 was enough for Arnold to hold the first round lead, rarefied air for the Sydneysider who had made just two cuts in seven starts leading into the week.
Despite not being able to maintain quite the same pace over the final three days, Arnold will take plenty of confidence from his performance this week ahead of a hectic schedule of upcoming events.
Arnold was one of four Australians to make the trip to the Dominican Republic, Rhein Gibson the other to make the weekend in the tournament.
Both players finished on the same score, Gibson breaking a run of three straight missed cuts prior to this week’s event.
Robert Allenby missed the cut by four shots while Mathew Goggin, playing for the first time since wrist surgery over the Australian summer, was understandably less than his best with scores of 78-74.
