PGA Professionals from across Australia are set to do battle on some of the Murray Rivers’ finest golf courses this September.
The Victorian swing of the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am series returns for a week’s journey along the mighty Murray River to complete for in excess of $50,000 prize money.
The week kicks off at Murray Downs in Swan Hill on Tuesday 5 September where PGA Professionals will entertain the crowd in the Swan Hill Toyota Longest Drive and the 3SH Nearest the Pin competitions before taking to the course on Wednesday for the Pro-Am.
“All credit must go to Murray Downs CEO Greg Roberts and PGA Professional Mark Bowd for the revamped concept,” said PGA Tournament Coordinator Heath McLeod
“Local golfers and corporate partners can come out on the Tuesday afternoon and watch as our Professionals put on a hitting display. This is a great way to get up close with the players in a more relaxed atmosphere and see how good they are.”
Thursday sees the swing to move to Cohuna, the home of one of Australia’s best golfers for the Stuart Appleby Pro-Am.
“It’s great to see one of Australia’s best golfers of the last 20 years supporting the club where he grew up and Professional golf in the region.”
Cohuna are again expecting a capacity field for the event which is the highlight of their annual golfing calendar.
These events lead into the 61st running of the Border Open at CluBarham, one of the longest running and most popular events on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am calendar.
“CluBarham have always been a good supporter of Professional golf, and our Members just love playing in the event each year for the great atmosphere around the place over the weekend,” McLeod added.
This swing will provide ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia members a good chance to tune up as they head back into the remaining Tour events for 2017. The Tour culminates in the Australian PGA Championship at RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast headlined by reigning Masters Champion Sergio Garcia.
