Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series Sunshine Swing Professional Damien Jordan has claimed back-to-back victories in the Maroochy Pro-Am following another day of consistent play.
Jordan was one shot off the pace after yesterday’s opening round. He had shot a 3-under par 69 and backed up today with a 6-under 66 for a total of 9-under par total 135 for the two days.
As expected the wind picked up in the afternoon combined with quicker greens and a few challenging pin positions made scoring more difficult for the players.
“These greens are magnificent and probably some of the best greens we will putt on all year”, said Jordan.
“The course is a credit to all the staff and members of the Maroochy River Golf Club. They were difficult scoring conditions both rounds but I think it was an advantage this year just being more familiar with the course. I hit the ball really well especially into the wind and my putting was brilliant over the two days.”
Jordan opened with a birdie down the 1st hole followed by another at the 6th. An eagle at the 515m par 5, 7th hole really got the round moving firing a 4-under par 32 front nine.
The back nine included birdies on the 11th, 12th and 17th holes with his only blemish a bogey on the long par 4, 13th hole, finishing 2-under par 34 and a total of 66.
Dale Brandt-Richards has finished two shots behind Jordan after firing a solid round of 5-under par 67 today along with his opening round of 2-under par 70 for total score of 7-under par 137.
“I played really steady golf over the last two days,” said Brandt-Richards. “I knew I would need to stay patient on this course and not try and force any birdies. I am pleased with this result and it will give me a boost of confidence heading into the next weeks Fiji International."
Brandt-Richards round included birdies on the 6th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th and 17th holes he faltered at the 18th hole taking his only bogey for the day.
The next best placed Professionals were Ben Clementson and Aaron Wilkin who both finished on a 3-under par total 141 for the two days.
The Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series Sunshine Swing Professionals will now have a short break in the schedule before heading to Fiji for the Fiji Teams Challenge to be held Tuesday 22nd August – Thursday 24th August.
