The in-form Wade Ormsby will be looking to build on his best run of form for the year when he heads to Prague for this week’s D+D Real Czech Masters.
Coming off a T5 at the Fiji International two weeks ago and a T6 in Denmark last week Ormsby is the man to watch among a nine strong Australian contingent at the Albatross Golf Resort.
A lost season in 2016 courtesy of a mystery neck ailment saw Ormsby play this year in Europe on a medical exemption and, while consistent, he had done little to suggest he was back to his best.
But that has all changed the past two weeks as he has vaulted inside the top 100 on the Race to Dubai and is now a legitimate chance to play his way into the top 60 and a place in the three tournament Finals series at the end of the year.
Joining Ormsby in the Czech Republic are fellow regular European Tour campaigners Jason Scrivener, Marcus Fraser, Nathan Holman and Brett Rumford while Challenge Tour players Ryan McCarthy, Nick Cullen and Daniel Fox have also earned starts. Richard Green rounds out the Australian challenge.
Of those making the journey to the Czech Republic for the fourth staging of the tournament it is Rumford who boasts the best finish with a T19 result last year.
Ormsby missed the cut in his only previous appearance while Scrivener has one missed cut and a T35 finish on his resume.
Nathan Holman has missed the cut twice and will need to turn around his recent form if he is to avoid adding to that number, the remaining Australians making their debut here.
Marcus Fraser played nicely in the Paul Lawrie Matchplay two weeks ago but didn’t bring that form to last week’s Made in Denmark tournament while Richard Green will bring some confidence to the week after a final round 68 at Himmerland.
For those stepping up from the Challenge Tour the week represents yet another opportunity to shortcut their route to the European Tour and Nick Cullen, Daniel Fox and Ryan McCarthy will all be looking to make the most of that.
