Victorian Marc Leishman has won the BMW Championship on the PGA TOUR in convincing fashion.
In control of the tournament from the first round, Leishman recorded a wire-to-wire victory with rounds of 62, 64, 68 and 67 for a tournament total 23-under 261.
Leishman was the man to catch on Sunday at Conway Farms but he never gave the field a look.
He opened with a birdie and turned in 2-under the card thanks to a further two birdies and a lone bogey.
A slight hiccup on the 13th couldn’t derail Leishman as he bounced back from the bogey with back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes. Finishing in style, Leishman birdied the 18th hole.
Finishing five shots head of Justin Rose and Rickie Fowler, Leishman has recorded his third PGA TOUR title and second this year.
This win comes just two weeks after a tough loss for Leishman, who finished third at the Dell Technologies Championship after leading into the final round.
“There were a few little scars from two weeks ago at the Dell, I was really determined to not let that happen again,” said Leishman.
“I wanted to give myself a big enough buffer that I could get it done and I did.”
It was a good week for the Aussie contingent with Jason Day finishing fourth on 16-under the card and Cameron Smith finishing 12th on 11-under the card.
Marc Leishman will now advance to the TOUR Championship in 4th place on the FedExCup while Jason Day will also tee it up at 15th on the standings.
