Hot, blustery conditions threatened to make scoring difficult for the 50-player field but it did little to slow Mackenzie’s run at Queensland’s longest-running PGA Pro-Am Series event.

The young New South Welshman bested experienced PGA Tour of Australasia Professional Brett Rankin by two strokes to claim victory.

“I felt good out there today,” said Mackenzie.

“I enjoy playing Wynnum and have always had a good result here. It has been a lean year for tournament so a win today certainly helps.”

Adding to a resume that already includes multiple Pro-Am victories in 2020, Rankin’s second place result was earned with a score of 5-under 65.

A further two shots back Michael Sim and Shae Wools-Cobb tied for third place at 3-under 67, ahead of Sam Eaves and Charlie Dann in fifth place at 2-under.

The Bartons/BMD Wynnum Pro-Am concludes the Queensland swing of the PGA Pro-Am Series for 2020.
