Deyen Lawson has cashed in on a brilliant effort to Monday qualify for the PGA Tour Series China’s Guilin Championship by taking top Australasian honours at the event.

""Lawson was one of 10 golfers to earn their place in the field at the last minute and with rounds of 70-69-68-72 posted a T12 result.

A brilliant back nine salvaged a final round that started poorly, an eagle and two birdies in a four hole stretch enough to overcome three front nine dropped shots which had seen him slip down the leaderboard.

Lawson was one of 13 Australasians to tee up in the tournament and among 10 to make the cut, New Zealand’s Luke Toomey next best at T19.

Max McCardle and Kevin Yuan finished T32 at 4-under, James Gibellini a shot further back and T38.

Corey Hale (T45), Daniel Pearce (T47), Campbell Rawson (T54), DJ Loypur (61) and Sam Earl (68th) were the others to play all four days.

Andrew Schonewille, Peter Martin and Chris Wood all missed the 36 hole cut.
