The golf gods couldn’t have scripted better conditions than those that awaited the morning field for the start of round two of the 30^th Coca-Cola Rich River Trainee Classic. Cooler conditions and not a breath of wind had competitors keen to hit the track to secure a position above the cut line.

Following an impressive 3-under 69 round one score, Queensland first year Trainee Gavin Fairfax went one better today carding seven birdies and three bogeys for a great round of 4-under 68 to hold outright third position on the leaderboard at the completion of play.

Attention was focused on overnight leader New South Wales Trainee Professional Robbie Hogan who got off to a blinding start with an impressive 32, 4-under on the front-9.

Combined with a solid even back-9, saw Hogan retain his pole position on top of the leaderboard, equal with first year Victorian Trainee Frazer Droop.

Droop, threw down the challenge early in his round, matching Hogan’s front-9 score and going one better on the back for a round two score of 5-under 67, the best for the day.

With 52 players making the cut and only a handful of shots separating the leading six players, the competition remains tight and is sure to heat up today.
