Andrew Kelly, Stephen Brown and Taylor Cooper have tied to win the $25,000 Commercial Club Albury Pro-Am.
The trio fired a 3-under 67 to win by one shot in hot conditions at the Commercial Club.
The club’s Trainee Professional, Brown posted his score in the morning field, while Kelly and Cooper both teed it up in the warmer conditions of the afternoon.
"I grew up in Wangaratta and only played here after I turned Professional, which is a pity because it’s such a great course," Kelly said at presentations.
Commercial Club Course Superintendent Anthony Toogood prepared the course in sensational condition. Firm, fast and true greens were complemented with lush fairways receiving praise from all players.
Players awoke to a sensational summer’s day before temperatures skyrocketed into the mid 30s by early afternoon and light winds made scoring conditions friendly, even with the high temperatures.
Kris Mueck and Scott Laycock both carded rounds of 2-under 68 to finish in a tie for fourth place, one shot ahead of nine players in a tie for sixth place.
The Commercial Club Albury Pro-Am is a part of the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series which comprises of 200 events Australia wide.
Played across more than 170 golf courses around Australia the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series plays an important part in the development of Australia’s Professional Golfers whilst also growing the game at a grass roots level by engaging an estimated 48,000 amateur golfers each year.
Each amateur that competes in the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series has the opportunity to win a coveted pro-am place in the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola to be played in November on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
