Tough week for Aussies on PGA TOUR

Aaron Baddeley took the honours as top Australian at the PGA TOUR’s Quicken Loans National after Steven Bowditch suffered a horror final round.

""Baddeley and Bowditch were the only two Australians to make the weekend after Robert Allenby, John Senden and Cameron Percy all found themselves on the wrong side of the cut.

Baddeley opened with rounds of 69-68 to be 5-under heading to the weekend but struggled over the final two days shooting 72-71 for a 4-under total for the week and T46 finish.

Still outside the FedEx Cup top-125 with just two events left on the schedule Baddeley advanced three places in the standings from 149 to 146 but needs at least one strong result to ensure playing rights for next season.

Bowditch entered the final round just outside the top-10 but quickly slid down the leader board after a series of disastrous holes.

Needing to shoot a low number to have a chance, Bowditch was aggressive from the outset but the play backfired with three bogeys in his first four holes and just one birdie for the nine.

Things got worse on the back as the Quenslander continued to struggle, four double bogeys and a bogey adding up to a 9-over 44 and 12-over total to fall 55 places from where he started and a T67 finish.

It was a disappointing week for Robert Allenby and Cameron Percy also after promising starts to the tournament for both.

Allenby opened with a 4-under 67 and Percy a 2-under 69 to be in decent shape but both struggled Friday to slip outside the cut.

Allenby slumped to a 75 and Percy a 73, both even par for 36 holes and two shots worse than required to play the weekend.
