Victorian Lucien Tinkler has claimed the 2016 Shepparton BMW Victorian Senior Open at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Resorts Lakes Course.
Tinkler fired a 6-under 66 to win by once stroke over Terry Price (QLD) and Michael Harwood (VIC).
Tinkler, who started the day four shots behind leader Paul Dalgleish, went bogey free and combined with six birdies was enough to take out the title and take home the newly named Peter Thomson Trophy.
Harwood looked certain of continuing his impressive run and lead the field with eight holes to play, but an unfortunate double bogey on the par 4 11th halted his momentum. Although he picked up birdies on 15 and 18, a bogey at 17 was enough to see him come up short by one stroke.
Price also made a last round charge, after making bogey at the first he had four birdies for a 3-under 69 to tie with Harwood for second.
At the presentations Tinkler dedicated the win to his great friend Ian Stanley who although is currently unwell sent him a text wishing him luck.
Yarrawonga and Black Bull along with Shepparton BMW have committed to hosting the event for the next two years and are excited about the future of the tournament in regional Victoria.
