The Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series and Ladbrokes Legends Tour have come together at the Brookwater Pro-Am in Queensland where the Ladbrokes Legends Tour players have put on a show in round one.

"MichaelPlaying in groups of one legend, one pro-am series player and two amateurs at Brookwater Golf & Country Club, Michael Harwood posted the best score in round one, firing 6-under 66 to take the overnight Ladbrokes Legends Tour lead.

Starting his round from the 2nd tee, Harwood recorded six birdies from holes 7 to 12 to move to the top of the leaderboard.

“I played great today,” said Harwood. “I really got things going on the back-9 with a string of six birdies and I didn’t leave one outside of 10-foot which was great.”

Harwood, who currently leads the Ladbrokes Legends Tour Order of Merit, has put himself in the perfect position heading into the final round.

Sitting one shot behind Harwood is Peter Lonard whose impressive score of 5-under 67 came after just one practice round at the course.

Pleased with his bogey-free round Lonard emphasised the importance of hitting fairways at the tight course layout, going on to praise the Brookwater Golf & Country Club for the fantastic course conditions.

Peter Senior rounded out the top-3 for the Ladbrokes Legends Tour players at 3-under the card, a score that was equalled by Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series leaders Darren Beck and Dane McArdle.

Playing in the morning field, Beck endured an up-and-down front-9 to make the turn at 2-over. Eventually finding his rhythm, birdies on holes 10, 12, 13, 16 and 17 saw him complete the back-9 in 5-under 31.

“I started with a bogey on my first hole which wasn’t exactly the start I was looking for,” said Beck.

“The front-9 is the more difficult side to make a score on but I knew if I could hang in there and play conservative golf early I would be able make some birdies on the back-9.”

Dane McArdle equalled the lead in the afternoon field, his 3-under round featuring five birdies and two bogeys.

Rory Bourke and Blake Proverbs sit in a tie for third place at 2-under the card, one shot ahead of Paul Hayden, Adam Blyth and Brady Watt in a tie for fifth.

Despite playing side by side the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series and Ladbrokes Legends Tour players are each competing for their own prize pool of $30,000, with round two to determine the winners of the Brookwater Pro-Am.
