Firm fairways and fast greens made for exciting play with Tim Hart making the most of a rare morning start, firing 6-under 66 to take the morning lead.

A host of players shot under par in the afternoon, including James Hartley and Ruben Lal whose scores of 6-under 66 saw them join Hart in a tie for second place.

“I have been playing mainly in Europe and China over the last 12 months,” said Perry.

“I did enough last year to keep my card on the Challenge Tour from six starts and I’ll look to head back there in a few months.

“Whilst my focus is the four round events it’s great to come out and play on golf course like this and in such a great event too.”
