Following the WA Annual Sate Meeting, 41 players took to the stunning Wembley Golf Course in the hope of winning one of the six elusive spots on offer for the PGA Professionals Championship Final to be played at Hamilton Island from 19-21 November.
In town early to see family and prepare for the upcoming Ladbrokes Legends Tour swing, Elliot shot a round of 4-under 68, including five birdies and a bogie to put him into first place.
Three players tied for second place with Troy Murphy, Vernon Sexton-Finck and Singapore based golfer Scott Barr all firing 3-under 69 to make it through.
The last two places went to WA Chairman Rob Farley and Rob Panincic who both shot great rounds of 2-under 70.
As an added bonus, Elliot and Murphy, who finished second on a count back, both gain exemptions into the WA PGA Championship played from 10 – 13 October at Kalgoorlie Golf Course.
The third leg of PGA Professionals Championship qualifying now heads to Mackay Golf Club in North Queensland on 20 May.

The first of the qualifying events for the PGA Professionals Championship Final to be played at Hamilton Island from 19 – 21 in November, overnight rains cleared for perfect scoring conditions throughout the day.
In addition to a spot in the final, Smith also gained a place in the 2019 Victorian PGA Championship to be played from 24 – 27 October, 2019.
Tied in second place on 3-under 70 were Simon Anglis and Michael Harris with both players also earning a start at the 2019 Victorian PGA Championship.
Sitting in fourth place, Glenn Joyner’s round of 2-under the card saw him complete the tournament as leading senior qualifier.
Shane Johnson, John Horvath, Alexander Pitty and Ben Bunny completed the tournament tied for fifth place, while James Hartley, Benjamin Ferguson, Shane Butler and Craig McLean rounded out the list of 12 players to progress to the final.
With five players tied for ninth place leaving 13 eligible for a spot in the final, a playoff was called where Rhys Granger was unfortunate to miss out with a double-bogey on the playoff hole.
Victorian Scott Laycock also qualifies to compete in the PGA Professionals Championship Final as the tournament’s reigning champion.
Western Australia is the next state to compete with the PGA Professionals Championship of WA taking place at Wembley Golf Course on 7 May, 2019.
