Luke Hickman has recorded his second Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series victory of the year, taking out the Independent Wholesalers IGA and Banjo Country Club Tasmania Pro-Am.
With a tight layout the Prospect Vale at Country Club Tasmania provided a challenging test of golf however Hickman fired 5-under 66 to claim the win.
Beginning his round on the 14th, Hickman made birdies at the 15th, 16th and 1st. Travelling nicely, Hickman hit a speed bump making a bogey at the par-3 3rd hole.
Regaining his momentum, Hickman reeled off three consecutive birdies at the 5th, 6th and 7th to hold the outright lead with six holes to play.
Hickman’s tee shot on the par-3 10th came up short of the green and a three putt bogey dropped him to 4-under the card and tied with Brody Martin and Scott Priest.
A further birdie on the 11th ensured that Hickman claimed an outright win with Martin and Priest sharing second place.
“I got off to a pretty good start, I chipped in for birdie on the 15th,” said Hickman.
“I played really well during the middle of my round. I made birdies on 5, 6 and 7.
“It was just a silly three putt bogey on the 10th but then to birdie 11 straight away was really good.”
The Tasmanian swing of the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series wraps up at the Launceston Kitchen Centre Mowbray Pro-Am. This is the state’s largest pro-am, worth $18k and finishes a 10 day stretch where the Professionals played for over $58k in prize money.
