Over 200 people attended the 2018 SA Golf Industry Awards Dinner held at The Playford in Adelaide on Saturday Night.
In what was a great night for the industry with everyone from regional volunteers, elite amateur players, Superintendents and PGA Professionals recognised for their outstanding contributions to the game of golf, it was PGA Life Member, Peter Ormsby who stole the show when he was awarded for his “Services to Golf in South Australia."
Peter has had a huge influence on the golf industry in South Australia, with a successful career in retail where he pioneered off-course stores, coaching and game development.
He has traveled far and wide through regional areas in his early years to ensure people in smaller communities had access to a PGA Professional and also through his teaching aid, The Swingyde, which is now sold all around the world and is used on a regular basis by professionals such as Dustin Johnson.
Peter, who has announced his retirement for January 2019 spoke passionately about his time in the game during his acceptance speech and it was clear to see his love for the game still burns brightly as he looks forward to spending more time walking the fairways of the European Tour watching son Wade or helping eldest son Jordan who also works in the golf industry running Golf Car Solutions.
Congratulations to all other PGA Award winners who were honoured on the night:
In Tasmania, the following award winners have been announced and will be presented at the Tasmanian PGA Championship Dinner on 25 November:
