Michael Hendry can head to Royal Birkdale with some confidence after posting his second top-10 of the season on the Japan Tour.
The New Zealander was consistent over the four days of the Sega Sammy Cup in Hokkaido, scores of 68-69-71-68 seeing him to T6 and into the top-20 on the Order of Merit.
Hendry will be pleased with his game ahead of his first appearance at a major, his place in the field at Birkdale coming courtesy of his other top-10 this year at the Gateway to The Open Mizuno Open.
Hendry was one of nine Australasians to tee up this week with five making the cut.
Fellow Open qualifier Adam Bland next best at T26.
Bland will make his third Open appearance at Royal Birkdale after qualifying in both 2006 and 2015 and, like Hendry, produced some solid golf in his final event before heading to England.
Scores of 69-69-71-70 suggest his game is in good shape though Birkdale will obviously provide a different test to that found on the Japan Tour each week.
Brad Kennedy (T33), Brendan Jones (T41) and Won Joon Lee (60th) were the last of the Australasians to make the cut with David Smail, David Bransdon, Matt Griffin and Kurt Barnes failing to qualify for the weekend.
