Queensland’s Cameron Smith will have learned some valuable lessons after posting one of his best PGA TOUR performances at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi, USA.

""The 23-yearold entered the final round at Jackson Country Club within two shots of the lead and while an even par Sunday round wasn’t the finish he wanted, the experience will stand him in good stead when he again finds himself in contention.

Smith eventually finished T11 to match his best finish of his rookie season last year but this week marked his first taste of beginning the final round with a legitimate chance of winning.
As he has done at each stage of his career, Smith is standing up to all challenges in impressive fashion and a PGA TOUR doesn’t seem far away for the former Australian Amateur Champion.
In the mix all week, Smith stood up to the pressure well over the first three days on a packed leaderboard but failed to produce his best golf in the final round.
He was one of only three players in the top-20 not to shoot under par on Sunday as American Cody Gribble cruised to a four shot win courtesy of a final round 65.
Smith was easily the best of the 10 Australians in the field, Rod Pampling and Cameron Percy being next best at T42.
Greg Chalmers (T50), Robert Allenby (T68) and Stuart Appleby (74th) were the only others to make the 36-hole cut.
Matt Jones and Mark Hensby missed by just one shot while Brett Drewitt was two off the pace and Geoff Ogilvy four.
