After a blistering opening round at the Joburg Open to be in a share of fifth Jason Scrivener imploded in the second round and missed the weekend’s play.

"JasonA bogey free 7-under-par 64 at the Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club’s West Course had Scrivener well in the mix but as good as his Thursday play was his Friday was equally disappointing.

The European Tour rookie got off to a good start on day two with a birdie at his first hole but things went south from there.

A second birdie at the sixth was offset by three bogeys and a double to turn 3-over and fall down the leader board in a low scoring event.

Another three bogeys early in the back nine sealed Scrivener’s fate and despite showing plenty of fight with back to back birdies on his final two holes he slumped to a 4-over 76 and missed the cut by a shot.

Rookie Professional Todd Sinnott also made a good start to the tournament with a 2-under opening round at the easier West course but he,too, found the East Course more difficult.

A four birdie/four bogey round of even par wasn’t enough to survive the cut which fell at 4-under.
