A brilliant start was followed by a disappointing weekend for Jason Scrivener at the Portugal Masters but the West Australian will take some confidence from claiming top Australian honours at the event.

""Just one off the pace after the opening round and two back heading to Saturday, Scrivener stumbled with a 2-over 73 in the third round on his way to an eventual T29 finish.

While he will be less than pleased with his weekend play the result was a continuation of some good golf in recent weeks, his sixth consecutive made cut now seeing him to 89th on the Race to Dubai.

Scrivener was one of three Australasians to make the cut, Wade Ormsby ending the week a shot behind and T34 while Todd Sinnott moved up the leaderboard Sunday with a 68 to finish T52.

Ryan Fox, Sam Brazel, Nathan Holman and Richard Green all missed the weekend by two while Ryan McCarthy missed by three.

Jason Norris looked in good shape after an opening 68 but a second round 78 saw him miss the cut.
