PGA Trainees from around the country will converge on Riverside Oaks Golf Resort for next week’s Yamaha NSW/ACT PGA Trainee Championship.

This will be the Resort’s fourth consecutive year hosting the Championship and third time on the challenging Bungool layout.

Riverside Oaks Golf Resort Club Manager Louis Lv said; “We are pleased to support the PGA Trainee Championship again in 2017. Having a PGA tournament in our backyard is excellent exposure for our region and the great amenities we have to offer here at the resort."

The week will begin on Monday with the Championship Pro-Am which will give local golfers and sponsors the opportunity to tee it up with the up and coming stars of professional golf.

The tournament proper begins on Tuesday with a total of 89 Trainees from New South Wales, ACT, Victoria and Queensland competing over four rounds for the $40,000 prize purse.

The field will be cut to 50 plus ties following round two on Wednesday, with the tournament champion set to be crowned on Friday.

NSW Trainee Professional and 2016 Champion Robbie Hogan is both mentally and physically prepared for the tournament and hopes to defend his title with another victory at this year’s event.

The third year trainee from Toukley Golf Club on the Central Coast had a break out year in 2016, winning both the NSW/ACT Trainee Championship and QLD Trainee Championship. Hogan has since defended his QLD title earlier this year and would love nothing more than to double up with his home state trophy.

“I have been working hard leading up to this year’s event and trying to give myself every chance to defend so my game feels good heading into the tournament," Hogan said.

“The course is looking fantastic and I am quietly confident that I can give it a real shot at going back to back."

Other players to watch include Victorians Frazer Droop and Ben Murphy. Both players have had multiple wins in Victorian Trainee matches this year with Droop capturing the Rich River Trainee Classic back in February.

Spectators are welcome to attend the tournament, with tees times commencing at 7:00am daily. Further information regarding the event can be found via the PGA website.
