A recent turnaround in
form has Kalem Richardson on the verge of breaking into the all important top-60
on the Asian Tour Order of Merit at this week’s Manila Masters.
Only the top-60 at season’s end are guaranteed playing rights next year and after back to back top-15 finishes the Tasmanian has jumped to 63rd in the standings with three events remaining.
Richardson has played the Manila event each of the past two seasons for mid-field finishes but will be motivated to improve on that this week.
It’s been a difficult 2016 for Richardson who has missed six cuts in 13 starts and had a best finish of T40 prior to a T8 at the Indonesian Masters three weeks ago and a T13 at the following week’s Macao Open.
He is one of 10 Australians in this week’s field, joined by Terry Pilkadaris, Scott Barr, Marcus Both, Sam Brazel, Unho Park, Darren Tan, Kevin Lee, Michael Wright and Adam Groom.
Pilkadaris and Brazel are both safely in the top-60 but the rest need to play well in coming weeks to avoid a return to Q-School.
Scott Barr is 65th in the standings while Michael Wright is the last Australian inside the top-100 at 94th. Unho Park and Adam Groom are 109th and 110th respectively while Kevin Lee, Marcus Both and Darren Tan are all outside the top-120.
