Following on from a successful 2018 tournament, the Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship is confirmed to return to Toowoomba from 21-24 February 2019.
Hosted by City Golf Club, even more will be on offer for ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia players with prize money increasing to AUD$150,000.
“The Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship has found an excellent home in Toowoomba at City Golf Club and continues to go from strength-to-strength,” said Simon Butterly, General Manager – Tournaments for the PGA of Australia.
“The increase in prize money helps to secure the tournament’s future as an attractive playing opportunity for some of Australia’s brightest up and coming players.”
The Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship has been played at City Golf Club since 2009 and celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2019.
City Golf Club President Ed Britnell said the club and its members are proud to have hosted the tournament over the last decade which has featured a prestigious list of winners.
“We are very grateful to have had an amazing group of winners here over the last 10 years including Steven Bowditch, Brad Kennedy and Ryan Fox, not to mention the likes of Cameron Smith, Peter O’Malley and Craig Parry who have graced our fairways” said Britnell.
“The members of City Golf Club have really embraced the tournament and I can happily say that they are very proud to be celebrating our 10th anniversary of hosting the Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship in 2019.
“The 10th year makes City Golf Club the longest consecutive host of the Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship, a fact that gives us great satisfaction."
Thanks to PGA TV, the course and region has been showcased to golf fans all around the world.
The action at City Golf Club has been live streamed on the online platform for the past two years with 50% more viewers tuning in this year to watch West Australian Daniel Fox claim the 2018 title.
“PGA TV is an initiative introduced by the PGA of Australia in 2017 to provide a platform to promote ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia players and tournaments,” added Butterly.
“A success from the outset, PGA TV continues to help grow the tournaments it showcases, the Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship being one of the beneficiaries.
“In 2018 the tournament was watched by viewers in more than 100 countries including Australia, United States, New Zealand, Thailand, Germany and Japan.”
