Third round equal leader Harold Varner III couldn’t hold back his excitement when asked about the prospects of holing out tomorrow. "Yes, that would be awesome. That’s all I was thinking about all over the golf course today, that would just make my week," said Varner.

"I would go nuts. I don’t know what I’d do on the next hole, but it would be pretty cool. It’s a good hole. Obviously it’s pretty hard when the wind’s blowing into you. You’ve got the get the right club and hit it at the right trajectory but I guess I faired okay, I went 1 under on that hole, so I don’t know. If I were 2-over I’d be telling you something else."

Punters will flock to the RACV Royal Pines signature par 3 from around 9:30am tomorrow, in hope of witnessing what will be an iconic moment in Australian golf folklore.
