The City of Mandurah is excited to once again be hosting the Steelscene Peel Pro-Am which returns to the WA/SA swing of the PGA Pro-Am Series in May.

This year’s event will be played over three days at Mandurah Country Club, The Cut and the newly included Meadow Springs Country Club from the 24-26 May.

With $33,000 of prize money on offer, this year’s event is sure to be a favourite amongst players teeing it up in WA’s Pro-Am schedule.

“We are really looking forward to hosting the professionals and amateurs alike back at Mandurah CC and The Cut,” said Grant Shortland-Jones, the General Manager at Mandurah Country Club.

“The event attracted some of Australia’s best up and coming professionals last year and we hope to get another stellar field.”

Crowned PGA Pro-Am of the Year at this year’s West Australian Golf Industry Awards, the event will be played over three days in the same pro-am format, giving local and visiting amateurs the opportunity to tee it up with a PGA Professional.

“The Mandurah/Peel Golf Coast is certainly being recognised on the map as a golfing destination with such a large cluster of world class golf courses all within close proximity,” said Jodie Budworth Operations Manager at The Cut.

“The Cut is very pleased to be working with the City of Mandurah again and continuing to bring such events to this Peel region.”

The Mandurah Country Club and The Cut both have a history of hosting PGA tournaments, including the WA PGA Championship at The Cut in 2007 and 2008. Bringing a new flavour to this year’s event will be Meadow Springs Country Club who will host the second round of the Peel Pro-Am.

No stranger to staging professional events, Meadow Springs has also played host to the WA Open on several occasions.

“We are very excited to be a part of this award winning event and add a third leg to an event that showcases not only our great courses but also our amazing region,” said Scott Proctor, General Manager at Meadow Springs CC.

“Three highly rated golf courses, plus a significant rise in prize money, this will definitely make the Peel Pro-Am a highlight once again on our calendar,” said Kim Felton, WA/SA State Manager at the PGA of Australia.

“The three Clubs have put in a huge effort to offer this amazing playing opportunity and we commend their collaborative effort.”

Mandurah Mayor Marina Vergone said the City was excited to welcome the players, spectators and all those involved in the new Steel Scene Pro-Am back to Mandurah.

“The competition will showcase all the great things the city has to offer and our exciting tourism opportunities. Bringing events like this to our special part of the world is part of the City’s ongoing priority to attract major sporting and cultural events to Mandurah. I wish the players all the best in their competition,” Mayor Vergone said.

A strong field is expected to be on hand to contest over the two days with Ashley Hall, Michael Long and Stephen Dartnall just some of the talent that will surely be heading our way on the WA/SA Swing PGA Pro-Am Series this year.
