A quality field will be on display in the outback of Australia this week for the TX Civil and Logistics WA PGA Championship.

"MichaelPlenty of players will experience the unique Kalgoorlie Golf Course for the first time while defending champion Ryan Lynch has returned as well as Jack Wilson who won in 2013 on the Graham Marsh designed layout.

Other former WA PGA champions competing this week include Michael Wright (2011), Michael Long (2008), Jason Norris (2007), Kim Felton (2002, 2003, 2004) and Marcus Cain (2001).

Also in the field this week are former PGA Tour of Australasia winners Daniel Popovic, Brett Rumford, Peter Lonard, David Bransdon, Ashley Hall and Leigh McKechnie.

This week the 120 Professionals in the field will all be trying to add their name to the honour roll but here are five players we think you should pay particular attention to at the TX Civil & Logistics WA PGA Championship.

Michael Sim (WA):

One of Western Australia’s most favourite professional golfers Michael Sim is making his first trip to Kalgoorlie this week. However don’t let his lack of course knowledge deter you, Michael is one of the most inform players in the field. In his last two starts on the PGA Tour of Australasia he has finished in the top-10. Most significantly he finished T10 at the Fiji International in gale force winds in a stronger field than assembled this week. While he has accumulated four wins on the Web.com Tour, this week Michael is aiming for his first victory on the PGA Tour of Australasia.

Brett Rumford (WA):

Arguably the most talented player in the field, Brett usually spends his time competing on the European Tour. However 2015 has seen some serious setbacks for Brett who had 30 centimetres of his small intestine removed, this will be his first tournament since having a break from the European Tour following The Open in July where he made the cut. What Brett lacks in tournament practice he will make up for in pure skill and experience.

Kris Mueck (VIC):

Now an established player on Tour, Kris has been in contention at a number of the State Based Championships on the PGA Tour of Australasia and will be drawing on that experience this week. Starting of his season in excellent form, Kris recorded three top-3 finishes in four starts but has found it challenging to recapture that form since the Tour returned from the winter break. However this could be the week which sees Kris return to his early season form, he is a proven performer on the Kalgoorlie Golf Course layout having set the course record at 7-under 65 in 2012.

Ryan Lynch (VIC):

The defending champion this week, Ryan will be looking to win back-to-back titles at the WA PGA Championship. Ryan hasn’t played his best golf so far this season with this best finish being a T13 at the NZ PGA Championship however a lesson with his dad and coach, Dale Lynch, before he made the trip to Kalgoorlie has him filled with confidence. He also has plenty of positive memories to draw on this week. Confidence and positivity are two key ingredients to winning on Tour.

Jarryd Felton (WA):

This is just Jarryd’s second start as a Professional with his first in Fiji a forgettable debut. It was a tough week for all the Professionals at the Fiji International with the course a tough test made even more so by the gale force winds so Jarryd can be forgiven for missing the cut. A far better player than his first result suggests, Jarryd will be far more comfortable competing on a smaller stage this week. Playing the WA PGA Championship for a second time, Felton finished tied 5th last year which was also highlighted by his equalling Kris Mueck’s course record of 7-under 65.
