The first round of the 2016 Isuzu Queensland Open tees off
this morning at the Brisbane Golf Club.
Beautiful conditions have greeted the morning field and we
are expecting players to take advantage of the windless day to make lots of
birdies.
A stellar field has gathered to contest the title with
plenty of players to watch in the morning field.
The young guns are out early with Callan O’Reilly, Jake
Higginbottom and Anotnio Murdaca teeing off the 1st at 7am.
The 2015 ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia Player of the
Year Matthew Millar will also be out on course at 7am, teeing off the 10th
alongside 2014 Fiji International Champion Steven Jeffress and Dimitrios
Papadatos who returns to Australia after playing the European Tour during the
winter months. A contender every week, the Brisbane Golf Club layout should
suit Millar; it’s not an overly long course, requires accuracy off the tees and
has firm fast greens.
They are closely followed by Max McCardle who has been in
excellent form recently. He finished runner-up at the Northern Territory PGA
Championship and T12th at the Fiji International after firing the best score of
the final round. The South Australian has also enjoyed a good season on the PGA
TOUR China where he has recorded four top-10 finishes. Max tees off at 7.10am
alongside Papua New Guinea Open champ Brad Moules and James Nitties.
Defending Champion David Bransdon will begin his title
defence off the 10th tee at 7.10am playing alongside Daniel Fox and
Matthew Guyatt.
Returning home to Australia to play on the ISPS HANDA PGA
Tour of Australasia for the first time since 2014 is Adam Crawford. This is a
home game for the former Web.com Tour player who has been a member at Brisbane
Golf Club for more than 15 years. He will tee off the 10th at 7.20am
playing alongside two fan favourites in Jarrod Lyle and Ashley Hall.
