PGA Pros heartfelt marathon charity effort

PGA Professional Alexandra Orchard and fellow PGA IGI graduate Adrian Booth are about to embark on a golf marathon.

PGA Professional Alexandra Orchard and fellow PGA IGI graduate Adrian Booth are about to embark on a golf marathon.

""The pair will play 72 holes of golf in 10 hours to raise funds and awareness for the charity Beyondblue.

"Our goal of the day is to raise awareness and funds through the With Heart Foundation for Beyondblue," said Orchard.
"We hope that by taking on this challenge for the day, it will help people feel comfortable to come forward and speak up, seeking assistance where they need in supporting one another."
Orchard and Booth graduated the PGA IGI together in 2014 before Orchard completed the PGA Professional Year program to become a PGA Professional.
They will be joined by PGA Professional Gavin Fairfax, PGA Trainee Professional Nick Rogers and 18 year old Surfers Paradise golf club member Jacob Montgomery.
For Orchard, supporting the charity Beyondblue has a strong purpose behind it.
"Everyday people suffer anxiety and depression. Studies show that 3 million Australians are currently living with these illnesses," added Orchard.
"This is something that has affected my family’s lives more than we could imagine.
"If it hasn’t directly impacted an individual, friend or family member, I am sure everyone has heard of a case where people have been impacted."
The event will take place at Surfers Paradise Golf Club on Monday 7th November. The five golfers will hit their first shots at 7am and aim to complete 72 holes by 5pm that afternoon.
The day is supported by Withheart, a charity foundation of the Retail Food Group.
