Percy looking for Web.com boost

Cameron Percy will be looking for a confidence boost when he is one of eight Australians to tee up at this week’s Rex Hospital Open on the Web.com Tour.

""Percy has a good track record in the event in North Carolina where he finished T4 last year and coming off three consecutive missed cuts on the PGA TOUR will look to draw on those good memories to get his game back on track.

Having lost full PGA TOUR playing rights last year Percy has had limited starts in 2017 but has a realistic chance to regain status as he lies 130th on the FedEx Cup points list.

The top-125 are guaranteed a card for next season so Percy needs some high finishes between here and the end of the season, a goal which would be greatly helped by some good play this week.

Joining Percy in the field for one of the more highly regarded tournaments on the secondary Tour are Stuart Appleby, Rhein Gibson, Brett Drewitt, Robert Allenby, Peter Lonard, Steve Allan and Jamie Arnold.

Arnold has been the pick of the Australians in recent weeks as he continues to find his feet in his rookie season in the US and will be looking to extend his cuts made streak to four this week.

After missing the weekend in five of the first six events of the year it has been an impressive turnaround in form for the Sydneysider who looks a good chance to improve on his personal best 2017 result of T16.

Gibson is the highest placed Australian on the money list at this point in the season but at 56th he knows he needs to find his best golf soon if he is to climb into the top 25 and return to the PGA TOUR.
His record at this event is less than impressive with missed cuts in each of his only two appearances but after a recent run of outs he has played decent golf in each of his last two events.

Veteran US campaigner Steve Allan will also be hoping for a turnaround in form as he currently sits 96th on the money list.
