Queensland’s Rod Pampling sits just outside the top-10 on the Web.com Finals Series money list and looks an excellent chance to head back to the PGA TOUR in 2017 after a brilliant Sunday in Idaho.

Pampling was the leading Australian at this week’s Boise Open, the second of four events which will decide 25 cards for next year’s TOUR, his Sunday 65 jumping him 23 places up the leaderboard.

The 46-year-old is a two-time PGA TOUR winner and regained his status on the world’s toughest circuit for 2016 through last year’s Web.com Tour.

However, a poor run of form saw him miss retaining his card though he is now on track to return for a 13^th season in the big league.

A T10 at last week’s DAP Championship had Pampling eighth on the money list and while he has now dropped to 11th, he is still in good shape if he can maintain his form over the next two weeks.

Pampling is one of three Australians to be inside the top-25 on the four tournament money list with two events to go, Cameron Percy (15^th) and Stuart Appleby (24^th) also taking aim at cards for 2017.

Seven Australians are part of the Web.com Finals events which is contested by a mix of Web.com and PGA TOUR players.

Those finishing 26-75 on the regular season Web.com earnings join those finishing 126-200 on the FedEx Cup table to fight for 25 places on the TOUR.

Matt Jones finished 126^th on the FedEx Cup and withdrew from the first event of the Series last week, his T57 finish in Boise seeing him to T72 on the money list.

After promising starts last week Rhein Gibson, Cameron Smith and Brett Drewitt all missed the cut this week, all three slipping from T23 on the money list to T48.

Drewitt will be particularly disappointed with his performance after opening with a 65 to be just one off the lead after the first round.

A Friday 75 was a shock and Drewitt, who has played decent golf in his second season in America, now has work to do to qualify for the PGA TOUR.
