A disappointing final round 75 saw Wade Ormsby drop from a share of second to outside the top 10 as he tried to defend his first Professional victory at the Asian Tour’s Panasonic Open in India.

Ormsby got off to a good start on Sunday with a birdie at the first hole but a double bogey at the 9th saw him turn 1-over for the day and with the rest of the field shooting low numbers his chance was all but gone.

Four back nine bogies against two birdies sealed his fate, his 3-over par round one of the worst of the day.

It was an unfortunate end to what had been a good week for the South Australian who finished up his best year on the European Tour at the Perth International two weeks ago.

Having survived qualifying school for the sixth time in eight tries in 2013 Ormsby constructed a good season with included three top 10’s and earnings of €346,464 ($500,000).

Unho Park finished the best of the Australians in a share of fifth with Blair Wilson (T18), Terry Pilkadaris (T23), Jack Munro (T51) and Scott Barr (T56) the others to make the cut.

Pilkadaris will be disappointed with his weekend play after starting the third round in a share of third place.

The West Australian fell well off the pace with a 4-over 76 Saturday and slipped further down the leader board with a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday.

It’s been an indifferent end to the year for Pilkadaris who missed the cut at the European Challenge Tour’s last full field event of the year a fortnight ago to cost himself a place in that circuit’s Grand Final event. He now lies 54th

on the Asian Tour Order of Merit and has work to do with six events left to play and only the top 60 to keep their cards for 2015.
