Brad Moules has equalled the course record of 7-under 65 at Latrobe Golf Club to win the Nelson Alexander Latrobe Pro-Am.
Returning to the Latrobe Golf Club after a hiatus, players were greeted with temperatures in the mid-20s while a light breeze made for fantastic golf conditions.
After a quiet start to the year, Moules hit the ground running starting from the 11th hole where he opened with a birdie 2 on the short par-3, before following on with another on the 12th to be 2-under for two holes.
His hot streak continued with birdies on the 16th, 17th and 18th to see him make the turn for the front-9 at 5-under the card.
Back-to-back birdies on the 2nd and 3rd increased his gap on the field, drawing level with the current course record at 7-under with seven holes still to play.
Unable to capitalise on opportunities to set a new course record, Moules was pleased to have adapted his play to maintain his score and secure the win.
“I realised when I was on the green that something was up here,” said Moules.
“I changed my putting grip.
“I went from the claw grip back to conventional grip and that’s what made all the difference.”
Recent winner Ryan Lynch posted eight birdies and two bogeys to finish one shot ahead of Fox on 6-under 66, tying for second with Anthony Marchesani.
Daniel Fox, winner of the Big Garage Subaru Bairnsdale Pro-Am also continued his run of form, recording six birdies and a bogey to finish on 5-under 67 alongside Jack Wilson and Ruben Lal.
