On the eve of the start of the historic NSW Open, one of the world’s most recognisable and influential motor vehicle manufacturers, Mazda, has today announced it is to become a major supporting partner of golf throughout NSW by linking with Golf NSW.
A feature of the partnership is that Mazda becomes the Naming Rights partner to the annual tournament which now becomes the Mazda NSW Open.
"We are absolutely delighted to be able to commence an association with such an iconic international business as Mazda," said Golf NSW CEO, Stuart Fraser.
"Mazda have long been synonymous with quality motor vehicles, combined with great design, and we look forward to working closely with them to involve their dealer network in a vast array of our annual state championship events."
Mazda (NSW) State Manager, Chris McCullam echoed Mr Fraser’s comments.
"Golf has long been a sport that has retained its good public image and displays the key human values of integrity and honesty," said McCullam.
"We are excited about aligning the Mazda name with Golf NSW and look forward to providing golfers across the state opportunities to become part of the Mazda family in the future and becoming the first choice for their driving pursuits."
In assuming the title rights to one of the longest running golf tournaments in Australia, Mazda sees the event as an ideal way of showcasing Mazda to a passionate and loyal community and further aligning their brand with the State’s premier golf event.
"To have our name associated with this event and to see this referred to as the Mazda NSW Open is an exciting time for Mazda, and one which we hope will continue for many years to come," added Mr McCullam.
"The quality of players being produced in Australia will see the Mazda NSW Open continue to be one of the most coveted tournaments on the PGA Tour of Australasia for professional and elite amateur golfers, and certainly this year is no different."
The 2014 Mazda NSW Open forms part of the PGA Tour of Australasia and will be played at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club, near Blacktown, from 13-16 November. Entry to the course is free.
