Queenslander Peter Martin and New Zealander
Mathew Perry are tied second on the PGA TOUR China after the first round of the
Ping An Private Bank Wanda Open.

"PeterFiring 4-under 68 the pair are joined on the
leaderboard by China’s Shaocai He and South Korea’s Rak Cho just one shot off
the lead.

38-year-old Martin turned Pro in 2001 and
competes on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia but is in his second year as
a member of the PGA TOUR China.

A year ago, Martin finished 83rd on the Order
of Merit, failing to retain his playing privileges and had to re-qualify for
the Series this season at the Global Qualifying Tournament.

His tie for 30th at the 2015 Nine Dragons Open
is still his top performance. However on his home Tour Martin has shown some good
form finishing tied 7th at the South Pacific Export Radler PNG Open
in April.

For the final hour of his round, Martin looked like
he would share the first-round lead with Kim at 5-under until he bogeyed the
18th hole to fall into the tie for second.

"I like it a lot," said Martin of the Jack
Nicklaus-designed White Birch Club.

"It sort of challenges you visually as well
challenging your game."

"You can get creative with different shot shapes
and I like that style of golf. It forces you to think more about what you’re
doing."
