Jason Scrivener was the best of the Australians through 18 holes when the European Tour’s Madeira Islands Open was cancelled due to weather at the weekend.
High winds, heavy rain and thick fog meant the required 36 holes could not be completed and the Tour is now in talks with organisers to play the event later in the year.
After all of the first day was lost to the weather players took to the course Friday for the first round of what was expected to be a 54-hole event.
While the field managed to complete 18 holes the weather again prevented any play on Saturday and Sunday.
Scrivener was the best of the Australians at 1-under the card and in a share of 18th when play was called while Terry Pilkadaris was 1-over and T45 and todd Sinnott was 5-over in T112.
