With Hurricane Irma bearing down on Florida Bryden Macpherson was among the millions of residents forced to evacuate the state though it’s unlikely many travelled as far as the Australian.

""Macpherson is in the field for this week’s Beijing Classic on the China Tour and after a 17.5 hour overnight drive to Atlanta, immediately boarded a flight to China bound for the Topwin Golf and Country Club.

The three-time winner in China posted about the adventure on his Instagram account, noting he had no sleep during the drive though did apparently arrive safely at his destination.

Currently second on the money list on the Tour, Macpherson will be hoping the journey is worth it as he returns to the site of his first Professional victory.

He won the 2015 Cadillac Championship at this venue and has since gone on to win two more times in China.

He is one of 12 Australasians in the field alongside Maverick Antcliff, Daniel Nisbet, Corey Hale, Deyen Lawson, Mitchell Brown, Kevin Yuan, Christopher Wood, Max McCardle and New Zealanders Josh Geary, Daniel Pearce and Fraser Wilkin.

Geary is already a winner on the Tour this year and sits fourth on the money list while Maverick Antcliff (7th) and Deyen Lawson (9th) are also in the top 10.

The China Tour was formerly a partnership between the China Golf Association and the PGA TOUR which offered access to the Web.com Tour to the lading money winners each year.

Since that relationship ended last year it is unclear what incentives will be offered to those leading the money list though a new strategic partnership with the Asian Tour will see earnings from select China Tour events count towards the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
