Bryden Macpherson has won his second tournament in three weeks on the PGA Tour China, rocketing to second on the Order of Merit in the process and ensuring a trip back to the Web.com Tour next year.
After disappointing results in his rookie season in America, Macpherson has been in inspired form since returning to the PGA TOUR China Series in early September.
In four starts he has two victories, a T3 and T13, to his name and has returned sub 70 scores in 10 of 16 rounds.
"I think I played this well on the Web.comTour in pieces," Macpherson said when asked about the turnaround in his game since returning to China.
"I played really well on Thursday and Friday on the Web.com Tour, and sometimes Saturday morning."
"But by the ninth hole on Saturday, I would start to drop off. I didn’t feel comfortable."
He said his experience playing in China last year, where he posted six top-10’s in 10 starts, has been part of his success in recent weeks and would hold him in good stead in 2016 when he returns to America.
"I played here (PGA TOUR China) last year, and I felt comfortable because I knew how I could play for 72 holes," he said.
"On the Web.com, I would sometimes get in my own way and stop myself because I didn’t feel that comfortable.
"Now, I feel very comfortable about going back and playing the Web.com Tour next year."
Macpherson started the final round of the Lushan Open one shot behind 54-hole leader Sejun Yoon and fell further behind when Yoon birdied his first two holes.
However, playing steady golf while Yoon faltered over the next two holes saw the Victorian hit the front with a birdie at the fifth, a lead he never relinquished.
Despite a double bogey at the last Macpherson took the title by two shots, the cheque for almost AU$47,000 meaning that, with just five tournaments left, he is almost guaranteed to finish among the top five money winners and earn a Web.comTour card.
It was a good week also for former Australian Amateur champion Rohan Blizard who finished in a share of fourth and moved to 12th on the earnings table, while South Australia’s Peter Cooke posted a top-20 finish and is now 15th on the Order of Merit.
