Perfect conditions greeted players at the Virginia Golf Club with Jeffress and Macdonald quick to capitalise firing rounds of 5-under 66 to share the win.
Opening his round with a birdie, Jeffress was cruising until a bogey at the 377m par-4 7th hole looked to slow him down.
Recovering quickly, Jeffress reclaimed the drop shot on the 8th before adding a further four birdie to his card.
However the Gold Coast based Professional believed it could have been even lower.
“I hit it solid all day, I just missed a couple of up and downs that I probably should have made,” said Jeffress.
“The pin was cut short on the 7th, I only had a wedge for my approach but just under clubbed slightly and ended up making a bogey.
For Macdonald, Virginia Golf Club will hold fond memories as the scene where he broke through for his first victory on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series.
The Redcliff Professional found plenty of birdie opportunities at the Virginia Golf Club, converting at the 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 13th and 16th holes.
Three putts at the 2nd and 12th holes saw him share the win instead of being the outright champion.
“I wasn’t hitting my driver very well early on in my round,” said Macdonald.
“I made the decision to take irons off most of the tees just to keep the ball in play.
“My wedge shots were great today I hit it to within four feet four times which I converted into birdies.”
At 4-under the card Andrew Martin finished runner-up to the winning duo while two shots further back Rory Bourke, Ryan Haller, Talmage Neill and Daniel McGraw rounded out the top-5 on 2-under the card.
