Queensland’s Brad Kennedy started well but faded over the weekend at the Japan Tour’s final tournament for the year, the Golf Nippon Series JT Cup.
The Cup is the Tour’s equivalent of the US Tour Championship and is only open to the top 30 money winners from the year.
Kennedy, who had a hot finish to the season with consecutive top 10 finishes at three of the Tour’s biggest events in October and November, opened with rounds of 69-71 to be T15 heading to the weekend but stumbled to a disastrous 79 in the third round to cruel his chances.
Kennedy managed just one birdie in the final 36 holes as he slipped well down the leader board to eventually finish 29th in the 30 player field.
With total earnings for the year of almost $390,000 Kennedy finished 29th on the final money list, almost $90,000 ahead of next best Australasian Brendan Jones.
Adam Bland finished less than $10,000 behind Jones in 38th place followed by Michael Hendry (51), Scott Strange (63), Steve Conran (64), Kurt Barnes (72) and David Smail (76).
The top 60 on the final money list retain full playing rights for 2015 while those finishing 61-75 will have conditional status.
