Queensland’s Brad Kennedy has grabbed honours as the leading Australasian on the Japan Tour money list with his fourth top-5 finish this week.
Kennedy fired rounds of 67-67-72-68 to be T3 at the RIZAP KBC Augusta tournament, six shots behind runaway winner Yuta Ikeda but just one out of second place.
A cheque for a little over A$73,000 pushed his earnings for the year to just shy of A$430,000, enough to leapfrog tournament winners Adam Bland (6th) and Michael Hendry (7th) in the standings.
Kennedy, a two-time winner in Japan, has done everything but post his third career victory this year with three runner-up finishes in 10 starts for the season.
It has been a remarkably consistent run of form with just one missed cut and 20 of 38 rounds in the 60’s since the season began in April.
Kennedy was the pick of the Australasians this week with Scott Strange next best at T24 followed by Adam Bland (T35), Brendan Jones (T54) and Matthew Guyatt (T65).
Kurt Barnes, Michael Hendry, Peter Wilson, Won Joon Lee and Steve Conran all missed the weekend’s play.
