Queenslander Damien Jordan enters the Isuzu Queensland Open enjoying a solid run of performances both on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia and Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series.

The Tweed based Professional in the midst of a career best season, teed off in style with an impressive win at the Victorian PGA Championship and has since only missed two cuts in the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth and Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship.

Currently sitting comfortably in the top-20 of the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit and set to play the Emirates Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship for the first time, Jordan is in a purple patch both on and off the course.

“It’s been a really good season, I’ve really worked hard with my coach, Ben Cronk, and things are good at home which makes it a lot easier, everything’s going really good,” Jordan said.

“I’ve just got a lot more confidence out on the course too. I feel like I belong a bit more out here, that’s been the biggest thing for me, I’ve worked on that a lot with my coach.”

A former member of the Australian Armed Forces during which time he completed two tours of Iraq, the mental aspect of his game was always going to take priority.

Now, after working with PGA Professional Ben Cronk, Jordan said his overall game is ultimately benefiting from the adjustments the pair has made.

“Obviously the mental side of my game is really good after everything I’ve been through in the army, it definitely makes a difference.

“I’ve been working with him (Cronk) the last three years, I worked with him a bit as an amateur but the last three years we’ve really worked hard at it. He’ll be down at the Australian Open this year so it’ll be really good.”

At the Isuzu Queensland Open, Jordan’s looking for his second win of the season and to hit form at the right time of the year.

“I finished top-20 here last year, obviously it won’t play as hard and fast as last year with the rain about but it still looks really good.”

A missed opportunity at last week’s Nexus Risk TSA Group WA Open will undoubtedly be driving Jordan at the Brisbane Golf Club come round one this Thursday.

“Last week I definitely had a chance to win but the putter went cold on Sunday, 33 putts are what killed me.

“But to see Steve (Leaney) get up and have a win was fantastic, he played solid all day and was really good.”

The Isuzu Queensland Open will be played from 26-29 October 2017 at The Brisbane Golf Club. The Championship is a part of an action-packed Australian summer of golf and forms part of the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.
