After a disappointing start to his European Tour campaign Nathan Holman will be looking for an improved performance when he tees up at this week’s Qatar Masters.
The 24-year-old didn’t play anywhere near his best in Abu Dhabi last week with two triple bogies among a scorecard littered with mistakes over the first two days.
But Holman is a better player than that performance would suggest and he will be keen to produce some more consistent golf in his second start as a full Tour member this week.
Adam Scott is the only Australian to win the Qatar Masters, achieving the feat twice in 2002 and 2008, and Holman would love to add his name alongside the 2013 Masters champion.
Six Australians are part of the field this week in a tournament which has proved a difficult assignment in the past.
Brett Rumford boasts the most appearances and highest finish among this week’s starters, a T3 in 2010 his only top-10 in 11 starts.
Scott Hend has played only once for a missed cut while Andrew Dodt has a best of T20 in three appearances.
Marcus Fraser has the next most appearances after Rumford with eight but has never found the course to his liking with his best finish of T12 coming in 2005.
Wade Ormsby is the last of the Australians and tees up for the fifth time in the event, his best finish coming in 2004 when he finished T30.
