Hawley on fire in Nation’s Capital


Alex Hawley has recorded back-to-back wins on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series after a sensational 5-under 67 at the Clark Group Yowani Pro-Am on Thursday.

Alex Hawley has recorded back-to-back wins on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series after a sensational 5-under 67 at the Clark Group Yowani Pro-Am on Thursday.

"AlexOn Thursday the 24-year-old claimed victory at the Clark Group
Yowani Pro-Am with a 5-under 67.

The day prior, Hawley recorded his lowest ever round as a
Professional, reeling off three eagles to card a final round 8-under 63 to win the
Goulburn Soldiers Pro-Am.

"I am feeling really confident with my game at the moment and
obviously enjoying this purple patch," said Hawley who overcame round one
leader Peter O’Malley at Goulburn and held off 2012 Australian PGA Champion
Daniel Popovic and 2014 Fiji International Champion Steven Jeffress
at Yowani.

"The courses in Goulburn and Canberra are sensational and it’s a
fantastic run of events we get to play out here so to win the first two is
amazing," added Hawley who will join another elite field this weekend at the
$20,000 Murrumbidgee Pro-Am which starts Saturday morning.

Ed Stedman will be aiming to defend his title at Murrumbidgee but
is up against a field which includes current NSW Open Champion Anthony Brown,
current Holden NZPGA Champion Matt Millar and current Victorian PGA
Champion Aaron Townsend.

The Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am series continues through Canberra and
Queanbeyan next week with events at Federal on Monday, Queanbeyan on Tuesday with
Matt Millar hosting the final event at Gold Creek on Wednesday.
