PGA Professionals are getting their first glimpse of
Natadola Championship Golf Course ahead of the Fiji International at the Qantas
Golf Club Fiji Teams Challenge this week.
Being played for the second year, the Teams Challenge has
united 27 Professionals and 81 amateurs to compete in both an individual and
team competition.
Tim Hart, who has last year won the Sunshine Swing of the
PGA Pro-Am Series Order of Merit, currently leads the individual competition
after shooting an opening round of 5-under 67.
"I
played solid golf today, I missed a few opportunities during my round, but I am
pretty happy to be on top of the leaderboard," said Hart who missed the
cut at the Fiji International last year.
"Natadola
is a tough course, finding the fairway is really important if you want to shoot
a decent score."
"Hopefully
the ball keeps finding the fairway and I can make a few putts along the
way."
Sitting a shot off the pace is New Zealander Mark Brown with
fellow Kiwi Kieran Muir and New South Welshman Ben Clementson a further three
shots back in a tie for third.
The
second round of the Qantas Golf Club Fiji Teams Challenge tees off at 9:30am Tuesday
morning with defending champion Matthew Millar looking to make an early charge.
