Richard Green will join top-60 qualifier Marcus Fraser in the first of the Race to Dubai finals events in Turkey this week as several of the European Tour’s top players elect to take the week off.

While only the top-60 are eligible for the bonus pool at the end of the Series, players further down the rankings fill out the field in Turkey, Green’s 78th position finish easily enough to qualify.

Green and Fraser are the only two Australians in the field at this stage, 96th ranked Wade Ormsby currently ninth alternate.

Despite some of the Tour’s top players skipping the event it is a strong field assembled at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal club in Antalya, Rory McIlroy is the highest ranked player but a strong supporting cast is also on hand.

The Australians will have their work cut out if either is to contend this week, Fraser finishing T29 in his only previous appearance in 2013 and Green T39 on debut last year.

Fraser comes into the week in decent form having finished T5 two weeks ago in England to cash his biggest cheque of the season.

He was less sharp in Hong Kong last week though was let down mainly by a 2-over-par opening round.

Green didn’t make the trip to Hong Kong last week but was superb in his last official round at the Portugal Masters a fortnight ago.

He produced a brilliant 7-under-par 64 on Sunday, highlighted by a six birdie back nine, so will be keen to get underway in Turkey.
